Hi Peter,

Unsure whether this reply is appropriate.

Canberra Spinners & Weavers are advertising an Ettrick Wind Wheel for sale for $490, 10 years old "but near new condition". Please contact the CSW Equipment Officer, Val Walker on 6227 0022, at the end of August.

Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh?  Wink  I know I really do not need another loom, but this one appeals, far more than the regular table models! Any idea how they perform? I'm not looking to weave yardage, but to have fun, and be able to take it to workshops or to my local group. The size is perfect for that, and I do have another much wider loom if I want to get carried away with larger projects.

Caroline...a tricky and complex question to answer....
Firstly....ALL Petlins customers are in a position to try any of our products.... as we operate under the guidelines of the Distance Selling Regulations, which briefly, gives all our Australian customers the same privileges as if they were in the shop, particularly, to try a product we have sent them and if not suitable, to return it to us. Please see our Terms and Conditions in our shopping cart.

Now the e-spinners...
I drive a Ford Courier twin cab 4WD ute (Ashford e-spinner)
Linda drives a Suzuki 2-door Grand Vitara 4WD (Jenny by Inwood Smith)
I do not drive a Prado (Roberta by Ertoel)
These vehicles ALL do the same thing, but look different in doing so and cost differing amounts.
Whichever electronic spinner you choose, you would get used to.....

I am looking at buying an e-spinner for production spinning and am not in a position to try before I buy. What is the difference between the Ertoel, the Jenny, and the Ashford, apart from the wide gap in price?
Specifics on orifice and bobbin size for the Roberta are hard to find, but I like the idea of Irish tensioning (not a fan of Scotch tension), and the fact it has been designed for ease of use for the physically disabled - I have arthritis in my hands so ease of changing the bobbin, and adjusting speed, etc is important. However the Ertoel is far more expensive, so is it really going to give me better service? Is it a better quality machine? or am I trying to compare apples to oranges and the Roberta is in a class of its own.
Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciated!
Tia, Caroline
