Hello, I am very new to weaving, having bought an Ashford knitters loom from Petlins in October. I have been listening to a podcast about weaving and they spoke about hand painted warps. My question is that it is dye that they were using (not paint) and if I was to apply the dye once I have warped up my loom, would I be able to create a simple picture and would this work if the dye is applied, and not set. I am thinking of creating a piece that would not require washing, but am unsure about this. Would I be better off just using a fabric paint. Do I also need to use a yarn that has previously been undyed or am I able to use yarns that have been dyed in a neutral colour.

Many thanks
Megan
