Belt for Inwood-Smith Drum Carder
Replacement belt for all Inwood-Smith drumcarders
Will NOT fit Ertoel or Ashford drum carders
How to tell the brand of your carder to narrow it down to an Inwood-Smith?? Some clues...
IF it has a stainless steel (not galvanised) feed tray, there is a 95% chance it is an Inwood-Smith
It will have 4 pulleys, 2 wooden/white/grey nylon, 2 metal. The large one often had the brand Stenco on it (the brand of the pulley, not the carder!)
It may have a serial number stamped underneath
There were some (very well) home made copies which this belt may also fit
If your carder is all wood, there is a 98% chance this belt will not fit
If your carder only has 2 pulleys, there is a 99.9% chance this belt will NOT fit
If your old belt is red, orange or green and is 'quite thick' and has a join, 95% chance this will fit.
Comes with a picture to show the layout around the pulleys to help you fit it
Not 100% sure if it is for you? Please do not buy it! There is a $15 charge if you send it back and ask us to send a different size belt. If in doubt, send a picture to carders(at)petlins.com
Have a look at the picture which explains how to measure for a new belt on a drum carder with 4 pulleys. So you have measured the path as per instructions. If you have a string length of around 79cm you may be in luck. This belt has an inner length of 79.4cm and an outer length of 84.8cm. Intrigued? ? Yes the belt is 8.6mm thick! You will also find the string sits deeper in the metal pulleys than the belt will.....
The pictures show the two models of the Inwood Smith carders. This belt will fit both.
